Flight delays are not cool......

On a wonderful Sunday evening, Mave arrives at the Des Moines International Airport a teeny weeny behind the usual time Mave would arrive at any airport: 15 minutes before take off.

But alas, the flight is delayed by an hour. Mave looks pretty upset. Lady at the ticket counter retorts, "Oh but you know, you should be here earlier."

.........As if the plane would -NOT- be delayed if Mave had been here earlier? Ok, next time, Mave will be here earlier so she can waste more time waiting for it. Cool.

Anyway, story continues....Mave runs through the security like a mad woman (it's a wonder that the security guards did not hold her back under suspicion). Mave for some unexplainable reason, still wants to be at the gate even though the plane will only arrive ~ 1 hour later. There must be something severely wrong with the coffee treat Jas gave her or with the general air quality in Iowa.

It takes 10 minutes before it all sinks in. Mave finally pouts, sits down and keeps herself from conjuring wicked thoughts about [unnamed airline company] by reading a printed story draft. To humor the whole situation, Mave takes a candid photo to express her feelings and profound thoughts of the airline company's performance.



Soon, Mave is riding on a plane towards Chicago but alas, anxiety and stress follows her.

Arriving flight estimated landing time: 8.50 p.m.
Connecting flight takeoff: 9.00 p.m.

Do the math. Mave misses her connecting flight to Kalamazoo.

She also almost ran down the person at the gate. That woman is XL-sized and Mave wisely avoids picking a fight. However, her face is plastered with despair.

Suddenly, one of the airline ladies at the gate counter speaks up, "Would you like a flight to Lansing? It leaves in 10 minutes."

"Hand it over!"

Mave runs like a mad woman to the next gate. She eventually finds herself flying to Lansing, calling up friends in a frenzy to look for a ride from the airport, a place to stay and finally, a ride back to Battle Creek the next day. God is Good, all is granted.

There's nothing like home. Well....my second home at least. ^__^
